Disappearing Railroad Blues

The Nickel Plate road was an important rail line through central Indiana. It is being turned into a walking trail from Noblesville through Fishers. I remember watching trains go down these tracks when I was a kid. Now it's just a memory. This painting depicts the ghost of a 765 pulling out of Noblesville for the last time.

My process includes creating an acrylic wash to inspire the background, followed by a digital painting done using many transparent layers. I adjust the order and transparency of the layers until I get just the effect that I want and freeze it into a file for printing.

Each print is made after you place your order, using archival inks on archival water color paper with a white border displaying the quality paper.

Absolutely LOVE this print! Having lived in Noblesville, IN for 23 years, we rode the train on various adventures - State Fair, the Christmas Polar Express... Mark, the artist is amazingly thoughtful and conscientious! Can’t say enough great things about this Etsy purchase!
