We offer three distinct editions of prints. I'm often questioned about what the diferences are. Hopefully this will help make things clear. Before you purchase, ask yourself this:
What kind of buyer are you?
Basically, there are three types of customers for art. I don't kid myself, people don't buy art because they need to, they buy art because they like something, and I am honored that you are considering one of my prints. I would be doing you a disservice if I didn't try to stear you to print that makes the most sense for you. Here are the types of art buyers:
Collectors buy are because they like a piece or an artist. Sometimes they buy art as an investment, but in the common market, there are no guarantees. Mostly they have found a style, a subject or an artists where they will buy multiple pieces over time. A collection. Often they have given thought to finding and buying just the right piece. Collectors ofteh consider the longevity of the piece, and what will happen to it in the future.
Decoraters look at the features of the artwork. Again, themes, style and artist can be important, but decorators often are looking for something that will fill a space nicely and maintain a rich. timeless look.
I Love This
These may be my favorite type of buyer. They buy only because they have found something that touches thier heart. Some are well funded, others are making a sacrifice to purchase art. These buyers are one of the reasons that I offer multiple editions of prints.
My most expensive edition is the Limited Edition. Limited Edition Prints are only available in three sizes, 11x14, 16x20 and 20X24, to allow the beauty of the detail and texture to be easily visible. These prints are Archival Giclee Prints on 300 gsm acid free watercolor paper. These prints will last for a very long time and could become family heirlooms. Each print is signed, titled, dated with the date when signed and each print carries an edition number. Only 40 prints of each image will be made. If you are a collector, this is the print you need. If you are not a collector, but want the best quality print, this should be your choice.
Open Edition prints are also long lasting archival prints. The paper is not quite as heavy as the Limited Edition prints, but they are printed with the same printers and inks. These are available in 8x10, 11x14 and 16x20. These are not individually signed and numbered, but, other than that they are almost indistiquishable from the Limited Edition prints. These are by far my best selling prints.
I created the Express Edition for two reasons. They can be shipped quickly and they are affordable. To keep the price down and the ability to deliver these quickly, they are only availble in 8x10 and 11x14s. They are printed on a smooth, 100 lb card stock. These are not archival, but still very nice prints, ideal for gifts or buyers on a very small budget.
So there you have it. Pick the image you like, the size you want and the edition that meets your needs.
